In short
Two GoPal Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) have been deployed with great success at Scanfil, which is a well-known international contract manufacturer and system supplier for the electronics industry.
The challenge
Due to its large internal distances, Scanfil was looking for a flexible, agile and fully integrated solution that could be implemented smoothly and adapt seamlessly to the company’s future requirements.
The GoPal AMRs were the best solution due to their intelligent navigation, which enables the robots to make decisions on-the-fly. For example, if the GoPal comes across an obstacle (e.g., a forklift or a person), it will simply drive around it. If the path is completely blocked, the GoPal will automatically find the shortest alternate route to its destination.
Today, two GoPal AMRs are working on the production line at Scanfil. GoPal is supporting the production process and moving finished goods from production to warehouse. “We are investing in the GoPal solution, because we need a flexible solution that can easily adapt to our changing requirements,” says Jakob Fager, Product Engineer Manager at Scanfil.
The solution
The GoPal solution at Scanfil consists of two GoPal AMRs, accessories, and software, which are all integrated and fully approved. For Scanfil, this represents a great benefit since the GoPal AMRs were pretty much ready to work once they hit the production floor. “The advantages of the GoPal solution is that it is a small robot, which does not require major adjustments at the company for deployment and that it has a very short installation and deployment time", explains Jakob Fager.
Scanfil considers the GoPal solution to be a sustainable investment in the future. “In the future, we will also use the GoPal solution to transport products to our dispatch dock. We also intend to use the robots for other types of transportation within the company,” says Jakob Fager.
In addition, the GoPal solution helps Scanfil better plan for the future. “We will be using the data from the GoPal solution to plan our activities going forward,” says Jakob Fager.
