Embedded Software Engineer

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Embedded Software Engineer to join our robotics development team. In this role, you will work with advanced mobile robotic systems that integrate hardware, motor control, safety, and embedded software. You will be part of a highly qualified development team responsible for software development across all levels. Within the team, we collaborate closely—both internally and with other departments—giving you the opportunity to influence both the product and your day-to-day tasks, depending on your skills and interests.

The software you develop will run on robots deployed worldwide, meaning you will be involved in debugging and improving the system in real-world applications from day one. We maintain a casual work atmosphere, while emphasizing a few formal principles—such as code review, version control, and continuous integration and testing—to ensure our product meets high-quality standards.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Robotic Drive Systems: Configure, tune, and integrate motor controllers for differential and Ackermann drive robots; develop scripts to test and optimize motion performance.
  • Hardware Integration: Design and implement software for integrating hardware components such as LIDAR, sonar, and safety PLCs.
  • Safety Systems: Implement safety zones and protective functions in compliance with ISO standards.
  • Embedded Development: Develop embedded application software in real-time kernels and embedded Linux environments.
  • Maintenance and Improvement: Maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance existing software, configurations, and hardware integrations.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain application software for other parts of the overall system.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (e.g., Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical, or Computer Engineering).
  • Experience with motor controller configuration, tuning, and hardware integration.
  • Hands-on experience with embedded software development (real-time and embedded Linux).
  • Proficiency in Python and C/C++.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols (e.g., CAN, LAN, fieldbus) is a strong plus.
  • Knowledge of relevant ISO safety standards for mobile robots is an advantage.
  • Good English skills, both written and spoken.

Personal Competencies

  • Goal-oriented and structured in your approach to work.
  • Capable of working independently and taking ownership of tasks.
  • Helpful and supportive towards colleagues.
  • Enjoy collaborating in a development team and contributing to shared goals.
